We generally beat Fulham but they don’t make it easy. We only drew the home game having been a goal down for a lot of the game. It’s also our third game in seven days, so presumably we’re going to see some rotation in the team.
The main forced change of course comes at the back with Vermaelen out for three weeks. There’s a piece on the Arsenal website suggesting that Ignasi Miquel will be starting at leftback today. I doubt that Arsene Wenger will want to break up the Mertesacker/Koscielny partnership. It hasn’t been perfect, but it has been pretty good. They work well together and it’s a partnership that should be nurtured.
Also tipped for a start is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. At least that could be what Arsene Wenger means! He said that Chamberlain is very close to getting his chance. How close did he mean? Will we see him today, or was he talking about the cup game against Leeds?
There’s been some speculation that Van Persie will get a break today but I don’t think that’s certain. It’s two week until our next league game so he might go again today. Someone who is definitely due a break is Arteta. He had played virtually every game since he arrived. So maybe Rosicky or Benayoun will start.
I’m not expecting big changes though. We’ve fought so hard to get back into the right part of the league. Arsene Wenger won’t want to slip back and lose that sense of achievement.
How about something like:
_____ Szczesny _____
DJ _ Merte _ Kos _ Miq
______ Song _______
__ Rosicky _ Ramsey __
AOC __ RVP __ Gervinho
What do you think?
Back later with out Man of the Match poll. Come on you Gunners!
